Royal Mail unveils a new collection of Star Wars-themed stamps

Royal Mail unveiled a new set of Star Wars-themed postage stamps. The collection of eighteen 1st class stamps, that celebrates the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens and the pivotal role that Britain’s film industry has played in its creation, will feature twelve most known Star Wars characters, including nine characters from the previous films (Star Wars Episode I-VI): Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, Boba Fett, The Emperor, Darth Vader and a Stormtrooper, besides three main characters from the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII - The Force Awakens film: Finn – a redeemed First Order Stormtrooper and trainee Jedi knight, Rey – scavenger from the desert planet Jakku, and Kylo Ren – commander of the First Order skilled in the dark side of the Force.

The twelve character stamps come on a 6 x 2 stamp sheet, complete with an overlying motif of the Emblem of the Rebel Alliance.

The character collection is complemented by an additional sheet of stamps that depicts Star Wars battle scenes and features four most notorious ground and space vehicles from the Star Wars universe: Han Solo’s legendary Millennium Falcon spacecraft, Rebel Alliance’s X-wing starfighters and Galactic Empire's signature TIE fighter spacecraft, as well as Empire's ground-based, heavily-armoured, quadrupedal front-line attack units AT-AT Walkers.

The new collection of Star Wars-themed postage stamps comes in various presentation forms, including the Presentation Pack, Character Stamp Set, Alternative First Day Cover Set, Mint Stamps Set, Framed Collector Set, Prestige Stamp Book, Limited Edition Medal Covers Set, and the visually stunning Millennium Falcon Bundle, and will be released by Royal Mail on 20 October 2015.
