MCM Comic Con – Manchester, 29-30 July 2017

MCM Comic Con (or MCM Expo) is a multi-genre fan convention held annually in several cities across the United Kingdom, with London, Birmingham and Manchester venues being the most attended ones. The MCM Comic Con is organised by the MCM (Movie Comic Media) Expo Group.

The convention mainly focuses on fantasy, horror and science fiction genres, covering assorted genre-related media, such as books, comics, manga, anime, video games, television and cinema, mainly from the United Kingdom, United States and Japan, but also from other countries all around the world. The event is frequently attended by movie and television show stars as well as various memorable industry personalities and other celebrities.

Manchester MCM Comic Con, held this year between 29-30 July 2017 at Manchester Central Convention Complex, will feature a large floor space for corporate exhibitors, which usually include well-known movie studios and TV stations, as well as a separate section for private exhibitors and assorted dealer stalls selling genre-related books, merchandise and memorabilia.

The highlights of the show will be: Special Guests (see the detailed list below), Photo with the Stars Area, Comic Village (Workshop for Comic Creators and Fans of the Comics Medium alike), Theatre (with previews of upcoming genre-related films and television shows), Cosplay & Masquerade (with UK EuroCosplay qualifier), Stalls with Memorabilia and Dealer Stalls.

MCM Comic Con Manchester will be hosting this time also Theatre Panels, with the special guests teasing plots of the upcoming shows, revealing behind-the-scenes gossip and answering your questions.

In addition, Manchester MCM Comic Con will be staging The Steampunk Emporium area, with crafty makers and artists on the stand happy to talk about their Steampunk-inspired creations as well as offer specialist advice on how to create similar items. Costume specialists will be ready to answer any practical questions and talk about novel ideas for creating imaginative and original Steampunk-themed outfits.

Being a family-friendly convention, young visitors will be catered for too in a MCM KidZone (with Face Painting, Kid’s Reading Corner and a free Mini Superhero Cape events), additionally, all kids 5 years old or under go for free when accompanied by a Priority Entry ticket holder.

Special Guests:

Denise Crosby - American actress best known for portraying Security Chief Tasha Yar in season one of Star Trek: The Next Generation as well as Yar's daughter, the half-Romulan Commander Sela, in subsequent seasons. She is also known for her role as Mary from The Walking Dead’s Terminus ‘sancuary’.

Gareth David-Lloyd - Welsh actor best known for his role as Ianto Jones in the British science fiction television series Torchwood. He also provided the voice for an elven mage apostate Solas in Dragon Age: Inquisition video game.

Kai Owen - Welsh stage and screen actor, known to worldwide audiences for his portrayal of Rhys Williams in Torchwood, British science fiction television series, which is a spin-off from the cult sci-fi franchise Doctor Who.

Johnny Yong Bosch - American actor and voice actor who provided the English voice-over for a number of anime productions and video games, including Shotaro Kaneda in Akira, Ichigo Kurosaki in Bleach and Lelouch Lamperouge in Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion.

David Hayter - Canadian-American voice actor and screenwriter, well known as the English voice for Solid Snake and Naked Snake throughout many titles in the Metal Gear video game series. His works as a screenwriter include X-Men, X2 and Watchmen.

Greg Austin – English actor best known for his role as Charlie Smith, an alien posing as a human student, in the BBC’s Doctor Who spin-off science fiction television series Class.

Sophie Hopkins - English actress best known for portraying April MacLean – an ordinary, unremarkable student in the BBC’s Doctor Who spin-off science fiction television series Class.

Vivian Oparah - English actress best known for playing the role of a child prodigy of Nigerian origin Tanya Adeola in the BBC’s Doctor Who spin-off science fiction television series Class.

Lou Ferrigno - American actor and retired professional bodybuilder, who gained notoriety for his portrayal of the title character in the television series The Incredible Hulk and vocally reprising the role in subsequent animated and computer-generated incarnations.

Manu Bennett - New Zealand-born actor known for his portrayal of the Orc commander Azog the Defiler in Peter Jackson's three-part film adaptation of The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien, as well as super-villain Slade Wilson a.k.a. Deathstroke in the television series Arrow.

Warwick Davis - Warwick Ashley Davis is an English actor who played the title characters in Willow and the Leprechaun film series, one of the Goblin Corps in Labyrinth (alongside David Bowie as the Goblin King), the Ewok Wicket in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi and most recently Weeteef Cyubee in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Andrew Lee Potts - This English actor is best known for his role as the quirky Connor Temple in ITV’s science fiction television series Primeval, a role he later reprised in the Canadian spinoff Primeval: New World. He more recently starred as Gabriel Hood in Dracula TV series.
